There is a wide variety of colorful neighborhoods with restaurants, retailers, and parks that will make any person feel welcome. Pensole Lewis College is located in the heart of the Cultural Center Historic District which is home to the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Historical Museum, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
Transit

Greektown is a historic commercial and entertainment district located just northeast of the heart of downtown, along Monroe Avenue
between Brush and St. Antoine streets. It has a station by that name on the city’s elevated downtown transit system is known as the Detroit People Mover.
The Eastern Market is filled with vendors selling everything from hand-crafted food to jewelry and other art. Hip cafes and places serving classic Coney Island hot dogs are spread through the district, along with Live jazz.
In the heart of downtown, Campus Martius Park is Detroit’s Gathering Place for both residents and visitors. The park features an urban beach and expansive lawn that serves as the setting for food and wine festivals and movie nights, fitness classes, and headline concerts.
Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park located in Detroit with historic, environmental, and cultural resources that have been beloved for generations. The park is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Belle Isle Nature Center, and more.
stretching from 7 Mile to 8 Mile on Livernois, the Avenue of Fashion is said to be home to one of the largest shopping districts of Black-owned businesses in the country. From fashion boutiques to art studios to excellent food, this historic strip has no shortage of businesses to explore.
Located in Midtown, this museum holds one of the largest collections of art in the world. Spanning from Egyptian to European and contemporary art, the Detroit Institute of Arts also holds special exhibitions so there is always something new to explore.
